STL Series Strain Gauge Anchor Load Cells are commonly used to measure the load and force applied to a surface. Anchor-type load cells are often used to monitor the loads affecting applications such as anchors, bolts, ground nails, piles, and retaining structures over the long term. When the anchor load cell is subjected to a load, the resistance of the strain gauge sensors inside it will change, and the output signal generated from this change will be proportional to the applied load. These changes are measured and converted to engineering units through a calibration factor. The output signals can be read with a portable reading unit, data collection and recording units, or wireless monitoring systems. Heavy-duty multi-core and shielded cables are protected by polyurethane jackets. Mounting surfaces should be flat for optimum performance. It is recommended to use bottom and top bearing plates. The bottom bearing plate is placed between the load cell and the anchor plate, while the top bearing plate is placed between the load cell and the locking plate. Strain gauge load cells are cost-effective and suitable for long-term monitoring with high accuracy.
The design of the load cell is resistant to water, dust, and includes internal lightning protection to withstand any challenging conditions.
